Previous political experience: 4 years councillor and 4 years Deputy Mayor / Simcoe County Councillor
Why have you decided to run? I have proven to be a hardworking dedicated Deputy Mayor. I am well respected at County Council and have recently joined the Board of Directors for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. I wish to continue in these roles as I enjoy moving projects forward with minimal delays and love working to improve our community.
How will you embrace and champion diversity in this role? I am an approachable, experienced professional who treats all people equally. I have been appointed to a National standing committee on Anti-Racism and Equity and look forward to learning and sharing and implementing best practices from other municipalities with the Town of Wasaga Beach.
What are your top three issues? Protecting Beach 2 for resident access to Wasaga Beach waterfront parkland forever. Community Safety through speed mitigation and increased urbanization throughout town (sidewalks, bike lanes) and increased investments in community parks, including the investigation of a riverside park with enhanced Nottawasaga River access at our sports park.
If elected, what do you plan to champion in your first 100 days? The priorities listed above, as well as developing a Climate Action Plan, continued advocacy for a High School, expanded bus routes, increased employment opportunities, retain and grow Wasaga Distribution, focus on community projects like the new library and twin-pad arena, Beach 1 redevelopment and other initiatives that move our town forward while being fiscally responsible.
